Eleanor Marsh commissions and edits the contributed articles on Law Week, the pieces written by solicitors, partners and people working in and around the profession rather than by the newsroom.

That means deciding what is worth running, saying no to what is not, and editing what is before it appears. It also means insisting on the things that make a contributed piece worth reading: an argument the author is actually qualified to make, sources that can be checked, and a declaration of interest wherever the writer has one.

Law Week does not charge for a contributed article and does not accept payment to publish one. Where a contributor has a commercial interest in the subject, that interest is stated on the piece.
